Simplicity strengthens cloud
I like how they say they can simplify the IT environment by the cloud to reduce complexity to reduce risk. I think there should be necessary steps if they want to improve to make things easier and better.

Re: Simplicity strengthens cloud
The cloud's benefit has always been reducing complexity. The issue of security, however, still needed clarification from a lot of organizational decisionmakers.

It seems that today a lot of that has indeed been addressed.

Simplicity
I guess simplicity appears to be the key to anything in life. Keep it simple. It's amazing, though, how many large corporations don't know what their data is valued at, how old it is, or even where it is. I can imagine the daunting task of trying to track all that data down. I suppose that's where a good cloud service provider comes in.

Re: Simplicity
@srufolo1 I think the issue is that corporate IT has been so used to building everything from scratch. Take some servers, grab some software and put it all together. It used to be complex by design.

Re: Simplicity
Yes, they cobbled everything together. No wonder they don't know where or how much data they have. That's the advantage of putting everything in the cloud.

@afwriter  Right! And I don't understand why all these corporations are so concerned about the security issues. It's certainly a lot safer than having data everywhere and anywhere and not knowing where it is!

Re: Simplicity
srufolo1,

At an offhand guess, companies that have no idea where their data is or what's in it probably fear doing an organized, systematic move to the cloud for the same reason that people who are terrified about their financial situation don't want to go through everything on Quicken.

Better a monster you think might be 20 feet tall , with 7" fangs, and able to fly than one you know for sure to be 13'4", with 4" incisors, and able to run at 24 mph.

Re: Simplicity
I agree! I think simplicity is key to a lot of successful new devices. Having something that everyone can figure out and fall in love with the product is super important.

@JohnBarnes The fear always comes to play when you don't understand something fully. I think the cloud is totally safe.
