Cellular IOT
They said the cellular IOT/Internet of Things had 400 million in 2015 and they will reach 3 billion by 2020. I'm so sure they will and it will probably be more than that with their estimations.

Re: Smarter Business Models for NB-IoT
I agree, I am all about saving money and if I can do that by my citing doing that, I'm all for it. It is also great that there is less environmental impact.

Re: Smarter Business Models for NB-IoT
@srufolo1 - I think this makes great sense and is an excellent market for MB-IoT.  Not only can cities solve the public problems but possibly can also serve as "hosts' to new aggregated information/services that will foster further public/private partnerships.

Top Sectors
Reed said the top sectors for telco IoT business are smart utilities and smart cities, which includes the sub-categories of smart metering, smart parking, smart tracking, smart trash bin and environment monitoring.

Most of sectors listed above are already inflight. Smart utilities and cities are actively going on in major cities, Boston being on top in the list with that intiative.

I am also aware that Newyork city is already using smart metering and smart parking features.

@srufolo1:

Can't agree more with you. There is lot of potential to be more efficient by making progress with these intiatives -  key aspects like parking, security will surely be addressed at better capacity.

@DHagar:

You made a great point , as you always do.

Potential partnerships through this initiatives is really welcoming. As you said, initially these initiatives will focus on addressing public problems as that would be the priority. But in long term, there ceratinly will be great opportunities of partnerships and further growth.

@ms.akkineni, thanks!  That's how markets are truly created!  So that is the door opener and with leadership such as Huawei, it should work!

Yes, and waste management is so necessary. There should never be a reason for piles of garbage to remain on city streets, or for waste receptacles to be overfull, exacerbating the rodent problem.
