Re: New things for Virtual Reality
I have to wonder if what the New York Times' Farhad Mahjoo called the "Frightful Five" will allow this to evolve and allow startups to make it happen.

@mp:

Ofcourse, we have to be realistic and realize the fact that there is a long way to chnage that 'nice to have' into 'must have'.

Re: New things for Virtual Reality
The key to remember is that we're still in the "nice to have" terriotory--where this evovles into a "must have" is still a bit far off.

@Ariella:

I share excat same thoughts that you expressed. At this age 'world' implies digital world, is the understanding that goes by.

Re: Education
@freehe:

Totally in agreemnet with you. VR is just a nice to have. There are bunch of other basic lacking factors that you listed for many students. Addressing them is the real priority.

Unless basic needs are addressed, nothing else would seem to add more value.

Re: Education
@freehe Excellent point! When I was doing my Master's degree, I observed at many schools and saw all the issues you speak of. Perhaps we should make that a priority here in this country before we start to worry over VR.

Re: New things for Virtual Reality
@ariella, I was thinking the same thing. However, nothing is as good as the real thing. After VR they will still need to take a driving class with an instructor to implement what they learned in VR.

VR
VR is great for companies that have a budget and can purchase VR devices to training, etc.

It is great that VR can be used to swim with sharks or whales but what are the basic benefits of a consumer using VR at home.

Don't Bill and Melinda Gates have a charity that contributes equipment to schools? Why should procuring headphones impede progress in educating children?
