VR and sports
I think sports is one area that VR could definitely take off. And it's an avenue that can afford the new technology too. With so much excess spending captail and a desire to always outdue one another, if VR is going to find away to survive in an ever changing technology-dependent world, sports is probably the best avenue to do it.

Climb the Highest Mountain
BT sounds like an innovative company. From the Olympics to the Formula One racetracks. That's impressive. And it's contemplating VR.

BT and Sports
It is great that BT is using VR in the sports industry and making the viewing experience much better for viewers. It is also great that BT is considering a 5G case. I would love to see that work.

VR has helped BT grow as a company and may help other companies grow and expand their services.

Re: VR and sports
elizabethv  - very true. A lot of innovation -- and investment -- in enhancing the television experience has come via sports. That's where higher quality but also enhancements such as graphics, statistics, multiple camera angles etc. really improve the experience. The immersive quality of VR could have a huge impact. Imagine a 360-degree helmet cam on a quarterback or linebacker broadcasting from right in the middle of the action -- for some football fans, that could be amazing.

Re: VR and sports
srufolo1 - As elizabethtv points out, that's where the money is. So it's the most likely to drive investment. Also, as sports broadcasters compete for rights, a key selling point for leagues is whether they can help promote the game overall -- as the leagues are always looking to expand their fan base. And the broadcasters want to differentiate themselves in terms of consumer experience as well. So there's a strong incentive in some ways, to try and create better experiences.

Spirit
NM: Why climb the highest mountain? (Laughs.) Not normally a fan of Kennedy quotes, but I like that one. It was important to us to be an innovator. We wanted to push boundaries.

I like the spirit.

Pushing boundaries and aiming high is always the stepping stones for being innovative. This is the exact righ thing to do.

Customer Expectations
I think overall being close to the customer is really critical.

Keeping customers and their needs in front of anything and everyone is the utmost important thing for any initiative. Also it is good to know that BT is also focusing on getting in the path of innovation.

Re: Spirit
ms.akkineni - Me too - that's where progress comes from! We do see that spirit among a lot of the technology people we interact with in the industry. Most are actually keen to do something that has never been done before, and push at the limits of current technology.
