Re: Deep Impact
@afwriter Can you imagine how much data these machines would generate? Tracking performance of each model would create all sorts of data.

@Michell @afwriter Absolutely, the proactive approach is much better than putting out fires as they occur.

Re: Deep Impact
I like the idea of predictive maintenance if nothing else it will cut down at least some of the problems before they happen. I don't think it is something we can ever truly rely on though

Deep Impact
It's great to see analytics put to use in operations like this. Predictive maintenance can make a huge difference for consumers. Less downtime and better service is a win for everyone!

"AT&T has an internal big data team that deploys analytics to improve our own operation. For example, we have a very large fleet of trucks. We are now managing our own trucks through our own IoT system. We're getting better data off those trucks, which helps us optimize dispatches to problem areas and allows us to predict scheduled maintenance for them. We found that we are saving money by applying that kind actionable insight and are planning to implement more in future."

Deep with IOT
I like how they involve IOT/Internet of things in things like infrastructure management, data on bridges etc. I know that it can be of great use for many things.
