Intel & MLB on Sports
I like how the MLB and Intel are in for sports. they say the MLB ahs the multiple camera angles and Intel installing camera pods etc. If they think that it will be beneficial for them I say go for it.

clrmoney - yes, I agree. I think the only way to move VR forward is to experiment, run trials and also give consumers a chance to play with the technology and the experience.

MLB in VR? I think I will pass.
Look, I think VR has a huge future. I just don't think the tech is fully mature. I'd rather watch baseball in person. Or on TV. Before using VR to watch it.

@batye does that affect depth perception or some other aspect of the experience?

@Ariella first the strange think - diabetes change my eyes color from Brown to Hazel, now on my passport application I put Hazel as eye color :) as with depth perception I no longer could use my Godkids 3DS to see anything 3D... I only see 2D imagies but they have to be large as small details I no longer see, nor I could judge the distance properly...

@batye that must have been fun. I live pretty close to the water myself and sometimes envy people who do have boats and the means to pay the fees for docking, etc.

@batye I'm sure it's the same around me. The only thing one can do for free is launch a kayak or canoe from certain points where it is allowed with no fee. But anything larger will entail fees.

I will say one of the benefits of VR for live events is feeling like you are right in the action. Paying for front row seats is expensive, but with VR that experience can easily be replicated.

That's exactly how I feel! Of course it won't give you the exact same experience as being there, but it's pretty close!

Intel and MLB Add to Sports VR
I can understand why sports can be the driver for VR because of the angles of the game and the different things going on, but I don't like the idea of the bulky headsets. I have a headache thinking about it already. However, my husband, who used to play for the Cosmos, would love the idea of this. Intel and MLB should definitely get the ball moving (no pun intended) on this because I think many sports fans crave this kind of extra level of excitement to watching sports.

Re: Intel and MLB Add to Sports VR
VR can be used to put people in the stands or on the field which is really cool. I think that bulky headset is a big thing that is detouring a lot of people from adopting VR. Hopefully, the headsets will become smaller and lighter like other technologies.
Re: Intel and MLB Add to Sports VR
@afwriter - while VR can put the audience in the stands, I am sure sports teams will stilll prefer actual fans be present, than everyting be VR. VR fans can't cheer and watching a team from the stand encourages the players. It could also keep the game from being taken seriously.

Re: Intel and MLB Add to Sports VR
That's true. I really like the idea of being able to watch the game from a player's perspective. That is something that I want to do if I ever have the chance. Imagine experiencing what an NFL quarterback sees right before he throws.
Re: Intel and MLB Add to Sports VR
@afwriter - I completely agree, being able to see the game from player perspectives would really open viewing the games right up. When I was a kid I played catcher and I absolutely loved watching the whole field from that position. It would be great to be able to watch the game from the same advantage now, especially with actual professional players.

Will e-sports get a VR boost?
I'm wondering if various e-sports will ever get a VR boost. I could imagine gamers playing multi-player sports games could also attract a "virtual audience" if the e-sport got popular enough. VR might also take "Fantasy football/baseball/etc" to another level if "fantasy" games could be realistically produced in VR.

That just made me think about a whole gambling aspect. Could you imagine being in a high stakes poker tournament from the comfort of your own home?
