Re: 2020 SD-WAN
@dcawrey:

Exactly.

I can certainly relate to one of my experiences where we had our sales team giving heads up about vendor and their services to the customer well ahead and the real vendor engagemnet got delayed extensively. That caused a clear dissatisfaction for the customer as there was an expectation set. We also had to deal with various challenges at implementation level.

Re: 2020 SD-WAN
It seems that we have come to an impasse in technology where if you are not one step ahead you're two steps behind. I think companies have to move this aggressively simply to keep up with the times.

Re: 2020 SD-WAN
@ms.akkineni It would seem to me that vendors reach out to customers way to early in the process.

I have experience in this because its the dynamic between sales and implementation. Salespeople are always going to tell customer what they want to hear. This creates friction.

Re: 2020 SD-WAN
@mp, @dcawrey:

I don't deny both your points. What i can say is - it would be risky engaging vendors too soon or too late in this process. We just need to wait for the right time where things get to a bit stable state, may not be too perfect. That way we can ensure that vendors are pulled into the game at the right time to roll up their sleeves.

Cloud Based Solutions
To see cloud based solutions on top with 41% is no surprise at all.

We all know that is the trend in the enterprise. Cloud based architectures and soutions are leading the way. People understand that there is a bit of challenge with security but are ready to take that small risk by being extra cautious and proactive about security measures.

Good question about SD-WAN vs VPN regrading security. I would look forward for the response.

Re: Direct Access
@freehe:

Good point about Encryption. Ability to have encryption in place imply security option.

Re: 2020 SD-WAN
I agree--but vendors are better off engaging a channel sooner \than later in order to be able to attack enterprises deep and wide.
