Re: ONAP Industries
@afwriter that is true. You can avoid pain by maintaining the status quo, but when the world passes you by, your loss would be that much greater.

@mpouraryan No pain no gain right? I wonder how many companies will try to avoid the pain and end up dying as a result.

Re: Is Cable On Deck?
The question is how long before we see such evolution you envision.   For the sake of the end user, I hope it is sooner than later!!

Re: Is Cable On Deck?
@mpouraryan, what is in my mind, which continues to offer better options, are platforms, such as AT&T is developing that scale and deploy the right technology needed to solve the customers' problems, as opposed to continually promoting a single or competing technologies.  The platform approach utilizes open systems, such as ONAP, where service probiders (including cable companies) can recommend the appropriate technology to address, scale, provide the service the user is needing and preferred.  This tends to be a platform of assembled capabilities, as opposed to defining the user's problems by the technology solution.

AT&T, Huawei, other leading platform providers are providing better options, including use of SD-WAN, and don't just become a one solution provider.

What are some examples of "options" you envision beyond what we already have so far that is being refined and revised?

Re: Is Cable On Deck?
@mpouraryan, my view is that the open platform IS designed to provide more and better options for the users.  I see that as moving beyond the old models of us vs. them and a win-lose proposition.

Re: Is Cable On Deck?
@Mike, thanks for that background!  Interesting developments.  This again goes to show how the open platform plays a key role in advancing technology, as opposed to selecting one versus another.

I am curious about your perspective on the level of value at hand for the end user--that seems to be continuing to abandon the providers at this stage?

Re: ONAP Industries
What is clear is that the only way for them to stay competitive to get even more automated--what I was curious about was the "pain" they identified--hopefully Mike can have him on a future show to deliberate the exact levels of pain and how they are able to bridge the divide that does exist.

Re: Is Cable On Deck?
Good questions Deborah, since these were seen as competing technologies prior to the formation of ONAP. OPEN-O was really pushed by Chinese vendors and service providers, but Arpit and Mazin stressed that ECOMP and OPEN-O each were missing a few pieces that the other can provide.
