OTT and AI
OTT has a lot to offer with new technologies as well as AI for advanced computers and making things easier for us. Both of them are hepful and useful in a way.

Traditional TV
..but I would say that a lot of people are still watching on the traditional television -- [particularly] digital terrestrial television, DVB-T [Digital Video Broadcasting — Terrestrial].

This is very true. I see the trend that people are watching digital version of programming, but still the medium is traditional TV. I don't think that will change significantly in near future. There could be subset of population that may have transitioned to other mediums like mobile devices, but not all.

UHD
What I can see for the near future would be, for sure, UHD [Ultra-High Definition]; it will arrive soon -- for the big screens mainly.

UHD certainly is very exciting and something to look forward for. As mentioned, this will make a difference for connected device. There is no difference for mobile devices to have UHD.

Sky Italia's Gandino Talks OTT Challenges
It would seem the biggest challenge for Sky Italia would be to try to convince its viewers to move over to OTT from satellite. But maybe not, because it appears a big chunk of its customers use satellite. They also have to move more quickly with AI.

Re: UHD
I sure would like to see an OTT service that uses AI to help me find things to watch. That could be worth a lot of money.

Anyone think Netflix might be working on something like that?

Re: Traditional TV
@ms.akkineni - I agree, I don't see most people changing their viewing habits that drastically that the teleivison will see even a noticeable change in popularity. I may watch a fair number of shows on my phone, but my kids mostly watch the things they like on our television. As the future generation, I can't imagine that being a habit that gets lost any time soon.

Re: UHD
@dcawrey - I would put down money that Netflix is working on AI for customer service. They have the money, the means and the popularity to be able to try something new, and if by chance it fails, still withstand the blow. Though I'm not sure that it would fail. Not to say it would guaranteed by popular, but I'd imagine they'd approach it in a way that it would be successful.

Re: Traditional TV
@ms. akkineni Yes, viewing on mobile devices is convenient for people on-the-go, mostly the younger crowed. Traditional TVs generally have larger screens, which make them better for watching content. I don't think it should matter much what the viewing device is.

Re: UHD
@dcawrey:

Good question about Netflix's OTT. They are into AI, a bit further in the game, which is not just limited to coming up with suggestions about what to watch. Netflix also developed something called 'Dynamic Optimizer' that decides extent of compression based on the complexity of video content.

Re: Traditional TV
@elizabethv:

Absolutely. Smartphone TV wtaching is more on the go or if that is the only option at the moment. If there is a choice, i am sure folks would lean towards TVs for bigger picture. I also would think younger generation is no exception in this case. That doesn't mean younger folks will trade off phones for TVs.
