Re: Innovative Renaissance
@elizabethv I wouldn't say the technology is useless, but I'm not going to watch an hourslong basketball game or movie in VR. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that the hardware is just not ready yet.

@elizabethv I haven't tried any headsets myself, but I have a feeling they wouldn't be very comfortable, particularly over my regular glasses.

Re: Innovative Renaissance
@dcawrey - Yeah I don't even like wearing glasses for 3D, so the audience isn't me either. But I'm sure it's somebody. Lol. My husband did a walk through of new build homes that used VR, so the technology isn't completely useless. Though, if all you're doing is looking at new build homes, I'm not sure why you'd want your own face mask. Unless you're a germaphobe.

Re: Innovative Renaissance
@elizabethv The problem with VR is this: Who in the world wants to have a mask strapped to your head to enjoy content? I'm sure there will be generations that are okay with it, but I'm not sold on it. Yet.

Re: Innovative Renaissance
@clrmoney - I'm guessing VR might find itself a little more relevent if not present sooner than many of us predicted. On Prime Day you could buy VR goggles that will connect to your smart phone for as little as $11. Making something that has been speculated to be an expensive aspect of VR, not only reasonable, but actually pretty cheap. (Please note I have no idea of the quality of these goggles, and did not buy one.)

Amazon
Interestingly enough, I just read that Amazon sold more Echoes yesterday (they were 50% off on Prime Day) than they ever have. The article speculated that Amazon is going to use this because that means they now have Amazon "built" into so many consumers homes already, kind of paving the way to ensuring they will use Amazon in the future of automated purchases. Oddly enough, my family was one that added the Echo to our home as of yesterday (my husband's doing) but I never really thought of it in those terms. Where electronic purchasing is concerned, Amazon is by far and away the most advanced seller out there.

Building the Pervasive Network
CSPs must keep on top of this pervasive computing, or risk becoming irrelevant. Accenture makes a good point in that CSPs must break down the complexity of trying to make sense of everything at once as technology moves at an exponential rate.
