Re: Bottleneck to Innovation
Definitely! Just because now a days people need to be educated in many areas of technology. It's not just one or two things.

Re: Bottleneck to Innovation
It would make sense for companies to invest in employee development plans so that they can retain employees while keeping them current on the most valuable skillsets.

Re: Bottleneck to Innovation
True. Employees now need a little of each talent in order to stand out to a company and stay on top of their game.

Re: Bottleneck to Innovation
@dcawrey It seems like that should have always been an important focus, but I guess it used to be easier to separate job roles & skillsets.
Now people need to be able to do a little of everything in order to differentiate themselves from other people vying for their jobs.

Re: Bottleneck to Innovation
@dcawrey So "Return on Investment" does not always equate to revenue. What does it measure then if not revenue?

Re: Bottleneck to Innovation
@srufolo1 When you work in an organization with lots of accountants, one of the things they measure is ROI. And things like IT spending. It's one of the toughest things, because oftentimes it doesn't translate into revenue.

Re: Bottleneck to Innovation
Good point. Regardless of ROI, it's a necessity.
Re: Bottleneck to Innovation
Absolutely.
Not everything can be tightly measured with an ROI. These kind of initiatives are kind of mandatory irrespective of ROI. Training need to be treated almost in similar lines of 'Complaince' needs.

Re: Bottleneck to Innovation
@ms.akkineni It definitely is something that cannot be ignored. Companies need to slip training into their budgets. It doesn't have to be an expensive endeavor, either, not to mention the ROI to be gained. It's also a good way to retain your already awesome IT people.
Re: Bottleneck to Innovation
@srufolo1:
Can't agree more. I just posted a comment on this. User training becomes really really a critical part in the whole process of any chnage or transformation. The change plan has preset activities and appropriately budgeted in companies. Companies are getting into the mode of notcing the importance of training.
