Re: Verizon Pushes Back Launch
@Ariella I don't go nuts over sports myself, but I was brought up on the Yankees. I collected baseball cards and remember a lot of the players' names. Every time I see a bottle of Yoo-Hoo chocolate drink, I think of Yogi Berra for some reason. My husband would really get into that AT&T offering.

@srulofo I also use Optimum for internet. I use AT&T for my cell phone service, though. I heard about the Yankees feature on a radio ad, but I didn't look into myself (not really a sports fan here).

A sense of the true "reality" is indeed within the realm of the possible--that's the key message here!!

Re: Verizon Pushes Back Launch
@Ariella I haven't seen the AT&T ads for the Yankee games, but that is something that certainly would interest me. I know that right now I use Optimum (Altice), so that would be one big competitor for Verizon. I've heard some good things about Fios, and they were having some great deals, but it just was not available to this community.

@mpouraryan This is really something else! Imagine the experience the kids (and adults) can have that really bring the characters to life for them. What a partnership with Microsoft! Is it already something that people are using?

Re: Not such a great business plan then?
Cord Cutting is a Phenemeon that cannot be stopped--it can be, potentially slowed, but not stopped.  The bigger question is whether the giants will allow upstarts to flourish or not.

Re: Not such a great business plan then?
Verizon has been on an acquisition binge--so The fact that they have decided to "slow down" should not be too much of a surprise--especially as we're seeing moves by the likes of Disney--and Apple with its' own plans to invest up to 1 Billion Dollars.    The question is whether we on the receiving will win or not.   Will we?

@dcawrey - I suppose I meant more, that they weren't doing a great job getting the plan launched - due to lack of planning. More than the product wasn't a good idea. The product is definitely a good idea. They just need to do a better job executing it.

Re: Not such a great business plan then?
Verizon knows it needs to do this to stave off the cord cutting. I think it's a good move. If they could, might as well launch in time for the NFL season. A lot of people will pay for this service if it is at the right price point.

Not such a great business plan then?
I'm a little surprised by what it sounds like is a lack of planning on Verizon's part. I can't really blame potential investors if they don't really have the technology sorted out. Why put faith in a business that isn't really sure how they are going to handle your product just yet?

In other news, did you guys see that Shonda Rhymes is moving to Netflix. I'm honestly not sure of the specifics. But this is the kind of thing Verizon potentially could have picked up, but they weren't selling a promising product.
