Cloud Benefits from Web-Scale Principles
Verizon's migration to a web-scale based approach suggests it is evolving, probably in an effort to keep costs down.

@afwriter Cnsidering that Verizon is actually quite a bit larger than AT&T, that should give the company pause.

I don't have a personal beef with Verizon, but I do feel like they are falling behind AT&T when it comes to industry leading/changing ideas.

@Ariella, well stated!  That doesn't serve the customer as well though does it.  You can get whatever you want, as long as it matches what they offer!

@DHagar a kind of one-size-fits-most approach? It is easier to scale that way than to individualize.

Re: Cloud Benefits from Web-Scale
@Ariella,  I have had similar experiences!  So they are not necessarily the #1 choice for me - either in personal or business accounts.  I think it depends on the area (obviously), and your service needs.  But it appears that Verizon uses this Web-Scale capability to not only build and deliver good competitive packages (for those who are their fans), but also to offer more take it or leave it packages, less responsive to some individual preferences.

Big is good when it delivers value!

Re: Cloud Benefits from Web-Scale
@dcawrey I think that depends on a person's needs. I don't need unlimited, and I don't even need the fastest speeds, so I'd rather keep my rates lower and not get the latest and greatest. Verizon has a virtual monopoly on internet in my area, but I'm on Optimum because the price is slightly lower and the service is better. Before we switched, we told Verizon that we were getting a promotion from Optiumum and offered it the chance to match the price. It didn't do so. Only after we switched did it offer a new promotional rate. That's not a smart way to retain customers. Many peole in the area constantly swtich because both companies only offer better rates to lure new customers and forget about keeping rates competititve in order to retain customers.

I have to tell you Verizion has been in my family forabout 30 years.  My parents swore by Verizon and it stuck to me.  They have a aweome service.  I love the 5G and will never give that it. Verizon has a great service and for a reasonable rate.

Re: Cloud Benefits from Web-Scale
Verizon is the best carrier in the US if you ask me. When I used to work in corporate IT, Verizon was the data provider we always used because the coverage was so great. I currently have the unlimited plan myself, and though it is expensive it is worth it.

I like Verizon as a company and what it has to offer or bring to the table so with using cloud based technologies from web scale is great. I love the 5 G part because I'm all for more data when it come s to doing a variety of things etc
