Telus Gedeon: SDN Key for Automation
Gedeon said the biggest challenge to SDN deployment is the "human element." I find that to be the case for the deployment of much technology, including AI, etc ... Having the discipline and cooperation, as he said, to rethink how we do things, is a huge hurdle.

Re: SDN New Functions and Features
It seems like it's a good example of the conundrum of wanting to support a breadth of technologies/vendors/customers/etc. without the complexity that support entails.

Re: SDN New Functions and Features
dcawrey I agree. I have heard some telco employees complain that the whole virtualization effort is making things too complex. Keeping track of VMs, containers, VNFs, microservices etc. is a lot to follow, which is why orchestration is such a big deal.

Re: SDN New Functions and Features
@Mike Robuck Honestly, I wish more people would talk about reducing complexities versus creating them.

Re: SDN New Functions and Features
I was surprised by this: "Let's resist the urge to cause additional complexities by adding pieces such as ONOS, OpenStack and various orchestration/MANO initiatives."

I would think they would at least need some sort of MANO (ONAP?) technology in place.

This interesting how they have some features and functions for SDN Automation like the network occupancy meaning they there will probabaly be more networking and making it easier and usable for them as well as the customers.
