@mpourayan Don't laugh. My computer still screams out "You've Got Mail" when I tap into my AOL account. Someone technology guy once told me it's actually a good sign you use your old email sometimes because it shows how long you've been using technology and have learned to progress. I can't help it if people still keep sending my email there.

@elizabethv Well it makes sense. Email is faster than faxing now and can automatically be assigned to a digital record. But some industries still keep a lot in paper. When we renewed our mortgage we got a stack of papers that approached the thickneess of a telephone book (don't use those much anymore either)!

@Ariella - Lol, surely that was it. Conscientious about the planet before Global Warming was "cool." Pun not intended. Lol. I wonder if the fax paper hanging on had more to do with being cheaper to use, or the technology to replace it was just too expensive. I feel like I remember a time when "faxing" something was a lot more prevelant than it is anymore.

@mpouraryan well, i had to extend quite a bit of patience with the IRS for a really small refund of $72. Funny that I brought this up in discussion today because I see that they finally coughed it up in the form of a direct deposit of $73.27. Maybe they paid the interest for holding it back all this time.

@mpouraryan I'm not sure it really was that much more secure to fax all those documents over. But it was that or snail mail them. I don't think it allowed an option to scan them in.

We need to welcome it--for the sake of security--and the fact that the IRS insists on written correspodence in light of all that has occurred is a cause for comfort--and I trust you agree with that.

@mpouraryan the biggest joke is reading government forms with "paperwork reduction" on them. I file taxes electronically, but when the IRS communicates with me, it snail mails in duplicate! Plus because it is taking so long to review the paper documentation it requested, it has mailed me 3 times in duplicate: once to acknowledge receipt and twice to apologize for not taking the time to review the forms.
