Automation and Service Agility
The agility and speed would be very helpful and a advantage for NFV when you are starting or adding something.new to an addition. Automation will still have it's ups and downs but we'll see how it all turns out.

Re: Automation and Service Agility
Networks are becoming so complex that automation can really help to navigate the pitfalls in some system design. I've always been an advocate for software-based networking, and we're getting closer to that reality for sure.

Re: Automation and Service Agility
I think that on the scale of today's networks, automation becomes essential. Without it, we'd have a lot more down time.

Ariella,

Even more importantly, the machines can analyze the problem, pick an optimal solution, implement it, and verify that it is working in less time than it would take for  human to read a document (even on screen) explaining what the problem is.

True, and speed is super important. Especially today everyone wants things as fast as they can.

I'm starting to think that people are addicted to speed!

If they can't have it now, they don't seem to ever want it.

Re: Automation and Service Agility
And no one is ready to accept any downtime. If you think back, folks use to run mainframe reports and wait a day to receive reports before they perform next step in the process. That is totally unimaginable now, but i personally witnessed business users following that process in on eof the reputed firms in NYC in late 90's - early 2000's.

@John.B:

That is very true. Here is my guess, i am not a robo pro though. All this goes well till there is an issue with Robo or in the automation process. Not sure what are the troubleshooting techniques, but with human elements that becomes much easier.
