Re: VNFs Curbing Opex
@mpouraryan, if it remains solely power you are right - if it responds to the markets it will be a winning proposition.  But sole power can be a huge temptation!

TIme will tell no doubt--the concertration of power, though, is quite problematic and there lies the ultimate dilemma.

@mpouraryan, good example.  And yes, I remember!

True. they are eating an elephant, but the proof will be in how they execute as to whether it has a positive or negative impact.

I do always wonder how would Judge Sirica feel about the state of AT&T today (and for those who may not know, Judge Sirica was the Judge that oversaw the the breakup of AT&T at the time.

Re: VNFs Curbing Opex
@mouraryan, good observation!

Yes, and if they stay in touch with the changes that are needed I believe they will succeed.  But that will be a choice.

They certainly have the capability to succeed.

Re: VNFs Curbing Opex
Hi there,

AT&T is going to be one of the ones left standing--no question about it!!

So far they have not disappointed--although dealing with the headwinds is challenging.

:)

Re: VNFs Curbing Opex
@mpouraryan, true - I think that is the challenge in true transformation.  You cannot go through transformation without creating some problems and delays in fixing old problems until the new solutions offer a better path.  That is probably why many companies don't even try to change, but keep themselves "looking good", even though they are losing ground.

My opininion is that AT&T at least recognizes their problems and is addressing what changes are need to put the ship on the right path.  Kudos for that - those are courageous steps.

Re: OPEX
@freehe, I think that is the foundation from which to build recognizable value.  When it expands the value of OPEX and gives new options through VNF - people will jump on board.  It almost makes the other options obsolete?

AT&T, though, has some challenges before it with its' core business though and I wonder how they'd navigate thru it.
