VNFs Curbing Opex
I'm sure that VNF will be very useful for OPEX and going in to the future so only time can tell.

Re: VNFs Curbing Opex
Yes indeed, although AT&T seems to have some profound challenges in its' core business as underscored with its' most recent SEC filing.  I look forward to us deliberating it further as this probably assessed--can't wait ot see @ADI's thoughts on it.

Re: VNFs Curbing Opex
@mpouraryan, I believe they have the "design" issues as their focus and are making progress there, as is pointed out.  Their challenge may be in building the culture to support and execute accordingly - a challenge for all!

I believe AT&T is at least aware - the first step to true progress!

VNFs
All companies need to use VNF to improve performance even those who are have good performance. Removing CPUs will be a great advancement for technology solutions.

OPEX
More service provideres should collaborate to deliver VNF which will help them maximize the OPEX savings from deploying NFV. AT&T is definitely on the right track by using VNFs. I am sure more companies will follow their lead.

AT&T, though, has some challenges before it with its' core business though and I wonder how they'd navigate thru it.

Re: OPEX
@freehe, I think that is the foundation from which to build recognizable value.  When it expands the value of OPEX and gives new options through VNF - people will jump on board.  It almost makes the other options obsolete?

Re: VNFs Curbing Opex
@mpouraryan, true - I think that is the challenge in true transformation.  You cannot go through transformation without creating some problems and delays in fixing old problems until the new solutions offer a better path.  That is probably why many companies don't even try to change, but keep themselves "looking good", even though they are losing ground.

My opininion is that AT&T at least recognizes their problems and is addressing what changes are need to put the ship on the right path.  Kudos for that - those are courageous steps.

Re: VNFs Curbing Opex
Hi there,

AT&T is going to be one of the ones left standing--no question about it!!

So far they have not disappointed--although dealing with the headwinds is challenging.

:)

Re: VNFs Curbing Opex
@mouraryan, good observation!

Yes, and if they stay in touch with the changes that are needed I believe they will succeed.  But that will be a choice.

They certainly have the capability to succeed.
