Re: Security Breach Story
For those of us who have "elected" to engage virtually, it comes with risks no doubt. We just need to be absolutely vigilant despite the fact that at times things are beyond our control.   The Uber breach, for instance, is a perfect illustration of it.

Re: Security Breach Story
It is a reality--but the key is that we should all keep tabs on it as parents--but remember that kids are a lot smarter than we are.

Re: Security Breach Story
I have this problem and my name isn't all that common. I think there's just one person who doesn't seem to use email properly. They enter my address on all kinds of things. I have had to contact multiple businesses asking them to contact this person for the correct address. I even spent weeks trying to close an Uber driver account I didn't open. Does this person know how bad they are with email??

Re: Security Breach Story
Ha! My kids had to create email addresses when they got to high school. In retrospect, I should have had them create addresses before they started high school. We didn't run into the odd email address problem, but it would have been more helpful for them to have email addresses.

Re: Security Breach Story
I've heard it stated that parents should create email addresses for their kids now, so that they don't end up with EvanV69278717930034@gmail.com. I don't see my kids as having a problem, our last name is so absurd and obscure I'm literally the only one in the country.......

Middle school thievery
One day, I took money to school. We had all been trained to keep up with our things and lock our lockers. Sports lockers were especially vulnerable so most didn't put anything important in them. I had a daily sports class so I was sure to keep my money locked away in my regular locker with my books. I remember checking my locker for the money before going to one of my classes. The money was gone when I returned to my locker after that class. I don't know if it was stolen because I didn't lock the lock properly or if the thief knew the combination. I never left money in my locker like that again...

I learned that locks aren't always enough to keep thieves away.
