As you note the challenges, the broader challenge continues to be the advent of AI--something I have underscored--and that danger seems to not be the focus:

In a recent interview with WIRED, famous theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking again warned about the dangers of super-intelligent AI. Hawking believes that an AI that could self-replicate might be the end of humanity's time on Earth. But is it? READ MORE

Maybe not despite, maybe because
Seems to me that given the difficulties EU countries face with the digital transformation, due to heavily regulated environments that can make it difficult to updgrade and update, a corporate culture that overvalues stability, a behind-Asia and behind-North-America tech community, structures that make it easy to resist change, and an embedded lobby of IT professionals who like things the old way, thankyouverymuch ....

Pushing into big digitalizaton projects might be a way to try to break up the rigidity and hide-boundness.  It's a chance to replace obsolete and inferior tech that is often protected by an entrenched lobby, and maybe along the way take down the entrenched lobby too. I'm thinking that they may shed a few public tears for how "disruptive" all this will be, but they're probably very happy to have the disruptions they're getting.

More Spending on Digital Transformations
I think that it is a trend that is here to stay with digital technology and we use digital things such as  digital cameras, camcorders etc. The digital world will give you up to daate clear information on certain things so they will be more expensive if you want to keep up with advanced technology. So if tou spend  money on the right things knowing you will get something positive and great for the outcome will be all worth it.
