Re: Time of Death?
YouTube does have its' share of challenges no doubt--and the recent controversy as It has committed to expand its' moderator corp underscores the challenge.    It will be fascinating to see how they react to it all?

Re: Prediction for FB..
The question is whether it is relevant or not--and how it will be embraced.    The broader question of net neutrality, though, reigns over it all though...isn't it?

Re: Prediction for FB..
....Facebook is as good as the engagement it promotes--when people stop going to it, it is going to be problematic--although the smart moves it has made to create a vibrant ecosystem (Instagram; WhatsApp) does give it a scale that others can't sustain--the question is will it continue long-term?

Re: Facebook does what it does best
For now, Facebook is the 1000-lbs guerilla in the room--the question is whether it would embrace Andy Groove's Admonition whether it will continue to stay paranoid or not....

Facebook does what it does best
It seems to me like Facebook has only ever been good at doing one thing - hosting Facebook. Beyond that, it's known to do little else worthwile, and this is proof of that. Did somebody say mySpace?

Re: Prediction for FB..
Advertisers certainly should push back against Facebook. The company is becoming very powerful in video ads.

Re: Prediction for FB..
Facebook seems to have the same kind of "throw everything at the wall to see what sticks" strategy as Google -- where there are competing internal groups as well as possible acquisitions. Look at how many messaging apps Google has going. Facebook also has its own Messenger and owns WhatsApp too. And FB is also developing other niche messaging apps for kids. So if Fb doesn't know what works, it just tries a bunch of stuff simultaneously.

Re: Prediction for FB..
Well that’s another reason I was surprised frankly. It would seem to make a lot more sense to go that route. Why reinvent the wheel and try to establish a new player when there are so many already? Maybe they think they can do it better? Maybe they don’t want the government scrutiny? I wonder what the strategy is?

Prediction for FB..
I think FB will likely acquire a video streaming startup and turn it into a powerhouse -- just like Google bought YouTube. It's easier for FB to innovate by building on top of a nimble small team rather than to try to attach it to its main business operations.
