Re: Moving to 5G
The existing players, though, seem not to be amenable right now--they should be paranoid to avoid being "Amazon'd" :) :)

Re: Moving to 5G
@mpouraryan, very true!  But it is also a new opportunity for those who truly want to move into new directions and want to lead the pack.  Someone will fill that bill and do quite well.

The SIM card is finally going virtual and the world of telecommunications companies is about to be turned upside down. Consumers will soon be in control, choosing an operator and a price plan and connecting to telecom networks in much the same easy way as with Wi-Fi.

Re: Moving to 5G
@Ariella, great interview.  I understand that 5G will truly be transformative, as opposed to evolutionary, in providing new options, as he points out.  I like his view on CIO's and the admonition to apply the new technologies in realistic problem-solving models that will drive this change forward.  I also believe his points on the uniqueness of "connectivity" (ie robotic cloud) is excellent in understanding the different elements that will be related to 5G.

We will probably have to better learn what we need to understand first, and then begin developing applications and value propositions.
