Re: Great
Doing an event like this is a good idea. Why not just bring all the exectives together in one place? Then you get a real perspective as to how things are really playing out. Eastern Europe in particular I would think has a lot of promise.

Re: Great
dcawrey - Yes, despite the increased effectiveness of digital communication, face-to-face discussions are just that much more productive.

I also think there is a lot of potential for central and eastern europe -- the entertainment sectors there are digitizing rapdily. And because of the different languages and small country sizes, the major global players face more of a challenge. Smaller, nimble players with low-cost options and local content have a real chance.

Re: Great
@dcawrey, I agree. They should do this in every country and then create an event for executives from each country to collaborate and share ideas and knowledge. It would save companies time and possibly money.

afwriter - It is a perk of the job certainly, I feel very fortunate to have opportunities to visit some amazing places. But there's also a downside -- delays & cancellations, jet lag, weekend travel etc.

Czech Out Telecom's Future
Great headline and this is certainly a beautiful city to behold. Drinks in the convent? Not so sure about that, and evaluating the cloister for advanced 5G services seems almost blasphemous. Is the convent normally used for business purposes?

Re: Czech Out Telecom's Future
srufolo1  -I believe the convent is no longer used as such. It is a historical building, part of the Czech national gallery and used to display art and other exhibitions, and also as an event venue.

I should also point out that the development of wine owes much to religion -- it was a part of Greek, Roman and Jewish religions, not to mention Christianity. The Benedictine and Franciscan monks are well known for their wines. And Dom Perignon champagne is named after a Benedictine monk who helped develop it.

@adi Interesting history about this convent. Wine, the drinking of, and production of it has been around for centuries. Even Jesus was said to have transformed water into wine.

Czech
Discuss technology plus dinner and drinks. Sounds like a good combination. I never considered Czech as a country that explored technology. This is great that Czech is exploring telecom technology.

Right? Sounds like a good time! It’ll be interesting to see what comes of this though! I’m always more of a fan of face to face communicating.

Network Security
It is great that the event mentioned network security. I think many companies make network security a low priority when it should be a top priority. This is proven with all of the security issues companies still experience on their networks and there is no indication of security issues slowing down.

Re: Network Security
I do feel like security has improved a little, but you’re right! It has to be made more of a priority. If not things can get very bad..

@dlr5288 with security I see the same trend but it gonna be some time before we gonna see big improvment as it more like a global effort must be where all players get involve to improve security...

Re: Network Security
I agree. I do think there will be a time when security is a strong point. As for right now, we’ll just have to wait until things can be worked out.
