Public or Private
<So I think the use cases will somewhat define the sort of cloud deployment, and whether organizations will use public or private-cloud deployment to fulfill the requirements of the use case. >

This was a great answer to a tough question. There is so much that goes into choosing a public or private cloud including cost and security. I am super interested in the continued conversation on edge computing and its benefits.

Private vs Public
Choosing a public or private cloud deployment is definitely a hard decision. Companies can choose public, private or a hybrid. The solution choosen depends on so many factors: infrastructure capabilities, feasibility, security measures in place, executive leadership support, adequate skills set, etc.

5G and Edge
Consumers are anxious for 5G. How will edge computing help consumers? If edge computing can provide quality service in coffee shops, libraries, bakeries or small retail shops that would be great.

Edge Computing
Companies will have to do extensive testing prior to deploying edge computing. It will be exciting to see the future of edge computing.

Re: Edge Computing
This is good news. I was beginning to worry if OpenStack had a future. It really needed to have a use case. It's strange to think of, but perhaps OpenStack is one of those cases where it was a solution looking for a problem. Well, maybe it has indeed been found.

Re: Private vs Public
freehe,

But is it really a hard decision, or just an unrewarding one? A decision that requires processing a very large quantity of highly diverse information in order to make a choice where the advantage/disadvantage is small/marginal is probably effort- and time-consuming, but not necessarily hard -- because the small margin of difference means that the consequencesof getting it wrong or right just don't differ that much.  And again, as I've said elsewhere, it looks like changing over is becoming cheaper and cheaper, so what is done wrong (or changes after the choice is made) can very probably be made right quickly and at small cost.

Re: Edge Computing
@freehe yes they do... but some Co. tend to overlook testing hoping to save... as try to say on papers it look good and everything should work fine... but in real life it other story...

Re: Edge Computing
Good point. I do think, in order to save, some companies skip the testing process and just want to throw products out there to the consumers. Because the public always wants things now now now.
