Re: AT&T Smart City Vision
@batye I know they're very big on CCTV there, and have it over many roads, but I doubt they can extend it to cover every single stretch in the country -- at least for now.

Re: AT&T Smart City Vision
@batye If it follows the example set by London and other British cities, you may see that in Canada, though I don't know if even in the UK it extends to all the rural areas.

Re: AT&T Smart City Vision
@afwriter I would say we lving in new reality where nothing private or hidden anymore... only what we could think and keep in our mind :)... but I did see technology in Russian hospital where by the way you reply to set to of the answers Computer could predict what you are thinking about, your nationality and prbability of you having cancer... around 75-79% and it was in 1999... now 2018... think how this technology got developed and used by Mr. Putin... against the west and our way of life...

Re: AT&T Smart City Vision
I’m super-paranoid about privacy (haven’t been able to bring myself to get an echo yet!) but as local street crime has been increasing lately, I’m finding myself wishing cc tv was used here too. There used to be a marijuana dispensary on my block. It made me feel safer because they had security cameras capturing all the activity on the sidewalk out front (and they had an business interest in keeping loiterers from hanging around outside). I’m not naive enough to believe that as long as you’re not doing anything wrong, you don’t need to worry - but I’m reaching the point of being glad to sacrifice more privacy for the peace of mind of not worrying about vandals breaking my car window at night or feeling safe when I walk down the street.

Re: I can do without the drones
I’m convinced those have already been replaced by amazon delivery vans. No one ever seems to pay attention to them & they’re everywhere!

Re: AT&T Smart City Vision
I'm with @afwriter on this one. It's still a little spooky, being listened to at a cross walk for instance; nothing nafarious from the creators, but once the precedent is set, what could come next from somewhere else? And it doesn't help that FirstNet is a network, clouds are in the sky...SkyNet!

Re: AT&T Smart City Vision
@afwriter following your movements throughout the day gives a much more holistic picture of you and your habits than just picking you up occasionally at a crosswalk. In fact, to make the data meaningful, it really has to pick up on what you do on a regular basis.
