5G Vision
What I see in the 5G is mainly positive but I'm sure that there will be a few negatives like many other things that come out. It make things better for business but you will always have someone abusing the system.

"Neil, dream big and go out and make it happen."

I love that. It's not enough to have the dream; one has to work at realizing it.

I'm wondering how this vision will play out.. a thousand micro-data centers -- located how? Perhaps some of these data centers will be mobile themselves? So that their benefits can be re-located in near real-time to places that need them the most.

@mhhf1ve: I can't imagine data centers being physically mobile. I would imagine these micro-data centers will be at client sites or at central offices.

Not too long ago, Sun Microsystems made some serious data centers that fit inside a shipping container that could be dropped off almost anywhere that had plumbing for cooling, electricity and a data connection.

Re: 5G Vision
I know Oracle killed off Sun's container data center project, but there are other projects that put a completely "lights out" data center anywhere a data connection and electrical requirements exist. So it's not so beyond imagination that mobile micro data centers might exist someday.

@mhhf1ve I bet if we had access to top-secret documents we would know for a fact they already exist.

Re: 5G Vision
@mhhf1ve - That's a genius idea! If there were mobile data centers they could relocate to various spots that they knew would see an influx in people, and demand for data. It could really benefit a lot of people and even businesses.

@afwriter - I am sure you're right. You know they would be hugely beneficial for the military, needing data in remote areas.

@mhhf1ve: INteresting information. I had no idea this was possible but presumably it is costly to move them around physically. They still might be useful for specific purposes such as field events.
