Absolutely, that is the hidden benefit. The trend now is 'back to basics'.

Re: Simplification
That is so true. It's great to see new development and improvement in technology. But the important thing to remember is not to ignore the basics. Any new trend shouldn't introduce complexity around simple needed things or ruin basics.

Re: Simplification
And itís important for companies to remember that. Sometimes I think they got lost in the new technologies that they donít always remember that simple things work very well.

Re: Automation
I can't agree more with you. You are absolutely right. There is no reason for reinventing the wheels. It has to be simple enough and similar to what you know of the product.

Re: Simplification
Absolutely. No doubt that there is strides of progress in technology. At the same times when it comes to consumer expectations, it's all back to basics. Consumer is expecting everything fairly simple and basic, easy to adapt.

Open source has been infiltrated by corporate interests...
Several open source projects are now funded by various corporations -- who may be tempted to control the direction of these projects to support development of proprietary hardware (or vendor specific software functions). So open source is no longer a "feel good" solution for development that aims to open up technology to benefit the public good.

Re: Simplification
I agree. I think, even though itís important to keep moving forward with technology, that the need to make it simple enough for people to use and understand is super important.
