Re: Makes Sense
Thanks. I hadn't considered buying directly from Apple, but it makes sense. I think I'll start there.

Re: Makes Sense
I've considered getting a refurbished iPad for my father. He uses an iPhone 4 so a newer iPad would be great. They'll be no 5G on an older device like that...

Re: Makes Sense
I've heard that refurbished iOS devices are a good option for frugal older groups who don't care about such things. I could see a future where these folks have no interest in 5G and might end up with a newer device by the time 5G is widely available.

Re: Makes Sense
Your statement that most people are already connected gave me another idea. There are entire groups of people out there (older adults, people who just don't care, people who don't have the newest and greatest everything, etc) who will eventually get to a point where they have 5G and a 5G compatible device but that may not happen for another 5 years or more.

Re: Makes Sense
@afwriter - I completely agree! Most people who would have any interest in 5G are likely already connected, and there just won't be that big a jump once it's fully implemented. It also makes a lot of sense that the new revenue will come from the creation of smart cities and autonomous vehicles. Though I'd be interested to know if they project that revenue being lower after last weeks fatality. Is the entire industry seeing this as a Macbeth for autonomous vehicles, or just moving on with more caution?

Makes Sense
It makes sense given that it is not like we are going from land lines to cell phones here if that analogy makes sense. The jump won't be so big that they can expect huge gains in revenue, and who knows if there is some way to monetize around the corner that they haven't thought of yet.
