Huawei Tops 560 SDN/NFV Projects![]() Huawei provided a breakout of its worldwide commercial SDN and NFV projects at this week's SDN NFV World Congress in The Hague. All told, Huawei said it has 560 SDN and NFV projects underway across the globe. In a keynote speech, Yuan Bo, director of network architecture transformation at Huawei's Carrier Business Group, said that his company had deployed more than 260 NFV projects and over 300 SDN projects through the first half of this year. Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd credited its SDN and NFV successes to its work across several cloud fronts, most of which were on display this week. During the SDN NFV Congress, Huawei exhibited products and applications such as convergent telecom cloud, cloud core networks and CloudEPN, as well as its All Cloud open ecosystem. The All Cloud network offering uses distributed software, hardware resource pooling and operations and maintenance (O&M) automation. Based on a decoupled cloud native architecture, Huawei's All Cloud core network taps into virtualized software functions and network architecture. The convergent telecom cloud platform is built on the OpenStack architecture and features unified O&M, cloud-and-network synergy, and ICT convergence. Huawei said this platform allows carriers to reduce O&M costs and shorten new service provisioning time from months to days. Featuring an SD-WAN architecture, Huawei's CloudEPN has four major features: it's agnostic to the underlay network, and it includes virtualization on the edge, cloud-based DevOps and branch security policies.
