Big Video Summit Shanghai 2016 Pt. I

SHANGHAI -- Big Video Summit -- Hundreds of industry executives gathered at the recent Big Video Summit in Shanghai to learn about and discuss the hottest trends in video services transformation.

The event, hosted by Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. in partnership with the GSM Association (GSMA) (which was running its Mobile World Congress Shanghai event simultaneously), attracted speakers from communications service providers, analysts and technology developers.

The key takeaway from the event was that video provides numerous opportunities for service providers to expand their businesses and forge closer and more personal ties with their customers (consumer and business). And as fixed and wireless broadband networks get faster and latency continues to improve end-to-end across packet-optical transport networks, so the potential for applications such as virtual reality becomes very real.

Developing a business model and services strategy is still a major challenge but service providers can learn from each other and from the growing number of video-centric partners in the market, including the OTT services players: Cooperation and collaboration are key to future success.
