Re: Future: Tense
ms.akkineni, excellent reflection.  To me that is knowledge - it is not as much anymore a state of knowing as much as it is a start of staying connected and continuing to learn what there is to know - like technology.

That will keep us all young!

Re: Future: Tense
It is an exciting time and you are either "in the game" or becoming obsolete - as you state.  That will keep us learning!

@DHagar:

Such a true statement.

'Becoming Obsolete' is not very cheerful moment for human beings. It is just the human nature as we strive to know more and more. And it is difficult to admit the fact that often times it is a constant struggle to catch up and be there in the race.

I tend to think often times on a regular basis "Man, I don't know this and I am so much behind.." But that surely serves as motivation to discover and learn more and more.

I like the caption 'Do not be a Futurist, be a "Now-ist" '

I don't disagree with being a 'Now-ist'. But isn't also required to have an ongoing vision for future. In my opinion that is the way to keep thinking ahead and move forward to translate that vision into practice.

Re: Future: Tense
@mpouraryan:

I recall my school days when we were introduced to computers. Often time we use to hear that computers are dumb by themselves. They will become smart only with human instructions. Till date that has been the case and it will be so....It's the human brain and intelligence that bring real value add. Ofcourse technology plays a key role to translate those qualities appropriately to make sure we have maximum yield.

Re: Future: Tense
bayte, I think that's the good news of today.  We can access education and information in many forms, from MOOC's, to classroom, to corporate training, to information sites like Telco Transformation.  We now have the ability to choose what is good for us.

Re: Future: Tense
@DHagar  Thank you, but this day we must take everything with grain of salt as education on line could be a good one... or just time spend/lost... sad reality of internet...

Re: Future: Tense
bayte, good insights.  Yes, it is almost a continual state of discovery.  You only know what you know now and based on yesterday, but tomorrow things can and will change and you have to learn more or totally rethink what you thought you knew!

It is an exciting time and you are either "in the game" or becoming obsolete - as you state.  That will keep us learning!
