Re: Evolution Can't be stopped!!!
Great points and I agree very much.

The cloud is a very powerful thing. Obviously it's big right now with businesses and almost everyone seems to be using it. However, I don't know if they should put all their faith in the cloud. Security breaches are a very real thing and the cloud isn't always the safest place to keep information. Things getting leaked from the cloud is not such a rare occurance. The security of the cloud should be taken very seriously and be watched reguarly.

Re: Evolution Can't be stopped!!!
What I found interesting was how the DOJ called it a "Marketing Tactic"..and as this week-end's Wall Street Journal was dismissive of Apple's view.     Hopefully some middle ground can be found at least in this fight--as the broader question of being secure on the cloud in the transformation process we all want and yearn for.

@freehe:  The March to the Cloud cannot be stopped--and that's a given (at least I hope there is agreement).   But not being focused on security is not responsible, is it? We have to press this constantly and consistently.   I think the Apple vs. FBI fight is part of this very dilemma, right?

Re: Evolution Can't be stopped!!!
This is a great idea in theory but a company will not spend the money required to ensure the cloud is secure and remains secure. With that being said, this leaves ample opportunity for security breaches, government spying, hacks, data security, privacy and other concerns about hosting data.

The problem is that too many companies do not understand how powerful the cloud is and how to use it effectively. Many companies try to move all their data to the cloud and that is the wrong approach. Other companies don't take advantage of its many uses. Any non-sensitive, non-PII data should not be moved to the cloud unless proper security measures are implemented and remain updated at least yearly.

There is inherent risk in any strategy- @vnewman--no doubt.  But as the old saying goes, those who don't make mistakes, don't do anything     We have to mitigate and anticipate

Re: Evolution Can't be stopped!!!
Implementing overly cautious security measures sometimes is at the cost transacting business.  You have to try to find a balance.  But, the public cloud - I'm not so sure - it depends on the level of customer detail they are going to store...

Evolution Can't be stopped!!!
Anyone who stops progress does so at their peril.   Should we embrace security?  Absolutely--but the need to be open is ever so critical.

I hope I am not too naive as I signed off on this poll!!
