Re: Amazon Prime
@Joe - there are times when I willingly put my phone down and watch some good old tv so I can do something that feels more "normal" and reel myself in from trying to reach the end of the Internet. :)

Re: Amazon Prime
@batye: LOL.  I know what that's like.

Reminds me of when I'm working on something and I think to myself, "Oh, let me look that up."  45 minutes of Internet distraction later, I tell myself I have to go back to work, then as soon as I look at what I'm working on, I say to myself, "Oh, right.  I still need to look that up."

Re: Amazon Prime
@batye: Well, traditional DVDs will still work in a Blue-Ray player.

I really don't get all the fuss about Blue-Ray.

But, on the other hand, I also didn't get the fuss about CDs over cassettes.  ;)

Re: Amazon Prime
@vnewman: I like your cities analogy there.  :)

To be fair, Jeff Bezos very much seems to have a sociopolitical agenda (many CEOs do), but Amazon itself as an entity does not (or, at least, does not appear to).

Re: Amazon Prime
@batye: I used to use TV as background noise as a productivity "tool."  When a show I liked came on, I would take a brief break, and then I would get back to work.

Several years ago, I unplugged, getting rid of cable (and only just recently getting it back).  During that time, I found myself less productive -- because the only available distraction was THE ENTIRE INTERNET!  ;)

Re: Amazon Prime
@batye: All the James Bond movies for under $80?  Not a bad deal.  I usually see them for sale well over $100.

Of course, when am I going to have the time to watch them all?
