TV Providers Losses
This shows that the customers base is quickly changing. Customers wants are changing and the industry is unable to decipher those needs and provide products and services to meet them. In addition, the market is satured and there are too many other options to consider which is great for customers but bad to tv providers. Companies need to go back to the drawing board and revamp their strategic plan or business development plan to ensure they can retain existing customers who needs change constantly and gain new customers. It is a tough market but it can cracked.
Using AI, big data and streaming analytics can help with determining what works and what doesn't and how to anticipate the future needs of customers.

Re: Really does look like saturation under present conditions
Yes good points!
The generation is slowly changing and the medias that people loved before are becoming less and less used because of the new generation. I think it'll be interesting to see what the generation younger than me (I'm 23) becomes interested in.

Re: pay tv providers
Thank you for the clarification. I am sure that the transformation in Canada is just as vibrant as it is in the United States. The question that is open in this transformation is this: Who will be left standing?
Thanks for the thoughts @batye as I wish you a fab W-End.

The first challenge is to understand what we are faced with--and it is clear that Artificial intelligence (AI) is part of the evolving mosaic. I am not sure what you mean by "WM", though--At any rate, wish you and the community a good weekend.

Re: pay tv providers
It is about market share--no doubt--but about service as well. Amazon's claim to fame is service--and if it gets into th e"Brick and mortar" side--then all the others have to truly watch out. Already target, Kohls and the rest of them are suffering big time--the only one still standing (Beyond Costco) is Walmart in the US (and that's thanks to Food...not anything else). It is part of the very transformation that is exciting--but at the same time scary to be witness to--especially as this occurs as I finished off some thoughts on it in my Personal Blog earlier today....
Wishing you all a fab and restful weekend!!!
What it is: Baker & Hostetler has just announced a new hire: Ross, the world's first artificially intelligent lawyer. Ross is the brainchild of IBM Watson, and it's been designed to "read and understand language, postulate hypotheses when asked questions, research, and then generate responses (along with references and citations) to back up its conclusions," as Futurism describes. "Ross also learns from experience, gaining speed and knowledge the more you interact with it."
Why it's important: A powerful glimpse into the future of professional services. Currently, even the most diehard legal assistants need time off for human needs. Ross doesn't have that problem -- and as a result, Ross can parse case law, secondary sources, legislation, and new court decisions around the clock, even delivering its curated results in natural language.

Re: pay tv providers
The old admonition holds true today: You get what you pay for--but with the profound changes we're witness to. I remind you all of what Amazon has been doing: Kindle began at $ 500--the basic Kindle is now at $50 and it has more "oomph" that the original Kindle Reader ever did.
