China vs Japan OTT
China is a huge country and its residents love getting the latest technology and they create the demand for new products and services. China has to create innovative products and services to keep up with customer demands. China is a forerunner in technology so its no surprise that it is an OTT market leader.

Re: Not surprised one Bit....
I understand what you are saying and the realities in China will indeed drive some of the changes at hand--However, the fact remains that they will continue to dominate and be the driving force for change.    I would also argue that India will give China a run for its' money especially as China is aging and India is not.

Re: China's Takeover
Not to mention the fact that numbers don't lie but liers use numbers.  I'm sure there are a million ways to present numbers to make one company or country look more productive or profitable than they really are.

China's Takeover
China has a lot to offer in fashion also some of our suff is made from china when it should be made right here at home. So it really dosen't matter to me who is the lead overseas.

Re: Not surprised one Bit....
The Chinese seem eager to be a part of the modern world and to have as much technology as they can get their hands on. They are certainly a big force in moving the entire world, technology is only one of those aspects. That Japan is set to overtake them though, with their population being vastly different - is extremely impressive.

Re: Not surprised one Bit....
Sheer weight also makes things unwieldy. With such an immense and diverse group of consumers that have to be kept satisfied (so they don't start looking for ways to escape), Chinese OTT is very much driven and constrained by the world around it. Just as there's a recognizable  American, British, Russian, Japanese style of mass communication, not because of coordinating efforts but despite them, the more the Chinese audience grows, the more it must be pleased and the less it can be steered.

North Korea can decide what people get, but it has hardly any people getting it. Sony can bend things a little, but fundamentally they have to give people what they want.  China is on its way from being North Korea to being Sony, and they've made it very clear they'd rather reign in the heaven of big audiences than serve in the hell of tiny ones.

Not surprised one Bit....
The sheer weight that China has around the World will naturally lend itself to this development--the question is to what end?
