Re: IoT
@dlr5288 sometime to delete it you must reset your phone or even root it to remove it... not an easy task... I'm fighting my Moto E keep trying to remove blootware...

Re: IoT
Yes I have never once used that app! And exactly! If they want us to download it then fine, but why can't we delete it? Especially if we never even use it!

Re: IoT
The one that really bothers me is the stock prices one. At least the others (health and weather) are theoretically something that the average phone owner would potentially use. It seems weird to assume that some many people even own stock and need to check it regularly that it's a default feature on the phone. (And why can't we at least delete it?!)

Re: IoT
Exactly! I can't tell you how aggravating it is to have apps fill space on my iPhone that I literally never even have the need to open. It's pointless for me. I don't get why I need to have it on my phone permanently!

Re: IoT
Good point - first & only gives them the ability to set costs, since there aren't any other choices.

Re: IoT
Me too! I like the idea of technology that's accessible enough to those who are interested that anyone can participate in innovation. So many iPhone apps have been created by users having a personal need to fill and developing a solution - things that wouldn't occur to companies to do. (So many seem to create something so that then you need it, vs. the other way 'round!)

Re: IoT
Oh my mistake! But yeah I still agree with your original statement. I'm just excited to see where Verizon goes with this and what will happen in the long run!

Re: IoT
I just hope whatever happens it's not super expensive! As a Verizon customer I know they can be somewhat pricey. I'm hoping this doesn't skyrocket the prices totally.

Re: Verizon Beefs Up IoT
So true - no reason to invest resources trying to reinvent the wheel, when there's a perfectly good one out there to use.

Plus telco companies make a decent chunk of money licensing out the different components they hold patents for amongst each other.  (Motorola and Qualcomm both use each other's technology/components in their phone designs, for example)

Re: IoT
I meant more "hacking" as noodling around and trying to create new, cooler stuff/uses out of existing stuff vs. misuse/abuse. :)

(Black hat hackers give hacking a bad name!)
