Re: managing video
@mhhf1ve  that's very true. Uploading is also ramping up but the sheer volume of downloads is so monumental that it gets lost in the mix. Video communications and enterprise video applications are likely to grow substantially in coming years, so I think that might affect upstream capacity significantly. But as a percentage of downstream, I think it will still be comparatively low.

Nice catch, Brian! :)

I came across it and just felt it deserved to be put up there as a contributor to the Big Video explosion.

Video growth: Investments versus Business objective
Tks very interesting.

Video is indeed often already more than 50% of Telco mobile data traffic. For some Telcos, the revenue split between voice and data revenue is now 50/50. Putting those numbers together, tells us that video alone drives 25% of Telco revenue today. The more people watch video, the more mobile data revenue is made (assuming not flat rate). Actually, by introducing methods to improve QoE, this video consumption can be further increased and while this require invesments, this drives new costs. That's why I think that one of the "hot" questions in the industry is indeed how to define the "optimum" between the required investment  to support video growth and the business objective for new revenue (as well satisfaction).

@faryl:

That's a very funny. But if you think about, you are very true. They seemed to be pretty user friendly. I never got a chance to use that ever though.

They were super user-friendly, you're right!

It's like they were designed with grandparents in mind (I think I may have actually given my mom one as a gift) :-)

Re: Off on a tangent...
That's crazy! I remember those. I remember wanting one but you're right then the iPhone videos came out and I really forgot about it. Seeing how far video has come is so interesting to me.
