Re: OTT Conumdrum
I agree. There are a lot of good content houses out there and it would seem easier and, more importantly, faster for operators to partner with existing OTT providers. They could also partner with independent content producers to further expand content and reach into younger audiences. Since it's not always easy to determine winners vs. losers in content, it's probably also the best way to mitigate the risk.

ESPN Knicks
CSPs would be completely out of their element as OTT providers as that business moves more to content creation. It would be like ESPN deciding to field its own basketball league to compete with the NBA.

Re: OTT Conumdrum
It seems like the OTT technology partnerships shouldn't be the hard part. Distribution of content isn't that difficult. It's figuring out how to make content that people actually want to consume. Neflix, Google and Amazon all collect data that can help try to figure out what people want to see... But data can't always predict whether or not a new show will be a hit.

Agreed. I feel like if the right businesses partnered up and had a strong video product, like you said, it would turn out very successfully.

OTT Conumdrum
I think companies should partner with a strong OTT video brand and deliver a quality, integrated service. This will save companies time and money in research and development and reduce the time to produce a quality OTT product.

Re: Combine
I agree with you and think that partnership would be a great idea! I think it would help not only the provider, but also the established network. You're right though, I think the competition is too great for either side to agree to this.

I think providers could partner with an established system, yet I believe they won't. This is a highly competitive arena.
