@Adi:

I completely agree with you about Netflix, me being one of Netflix's happy customers.

@mhhf1ve - great point. Among the highest rated OTT shows, Netflix clearly dominates in terms of number of shows (vs HBO, Hulu etc.). But of course, number one by a mile is GoT.

Re: OTT rising
I didn't realize that existed! Good for roku for branching out like that! (I won a roku from them once on Twitter - so have a special fondness for them)

Re: OTT rising
The brand is TCL but it has Roku capabilities built right into it; no need to have a separate box.  Kind of like a Roku operating system.

Content, Content, Content...
Content is King again? I'm really wondering when HBO can prove its sustainability by coming up with replacement shows after Game of Thrones is over... Even Disney had to buy properties like Star Wars to stay relevant and keep growing, so it seems like consolidation is going to come one way or another...

Re: OTT rising
What is a roku TV? I agree that roku's channels & content delivery options are better (and I like that people can develop their own - the Yule log is a favorite of mine!). For some reason I find it's navigation clunky, but I think that's more of something I just need to get used to.

Re: OTT rising
@Adi, My Rokus are a little older so some of this stuff may be true of the newer models, but:

1.  It is nice having a single remote that controls everything (until you lose it that is)

2.  The TV allows you to preview shows and even preview what's going on under each input.  In other words I can just go to HDMI 1 and it tells me that that is where my BluRay in plugged in and it is already starting to play.

3.  It attomatically starts new shows when the last one ends so there is no need to find the remote and go to the next episode.

4.  Overall I feel like the WiFi connection is better and everything moves faster even though the interface is the same (with a few exceptions inside the apps).

Re: OTT rising
@afwriter - can you describe the differences in a bit of detail? Would be interesting to know what exactly the difference was in terms of user experience.

Triple play bundling
There's examples of bundled/aggregated options being preferred by consumers, such as the launch of triple-play services 10-15 years ago. Churn came down substantially, approximately by one-third for each additional service. And in our consumer research at the time, having a single bill was the most important reason for wanting a bundle. Operators still needed to offer a discount to actually get consumers to take action, but issues such as a single bill, having one provider responsible for all services - these kind of things were important drivers.
