Re: C-Spire IP Video Service
Yes, saving time and money is important with any good business. Also putting out a good product timely can really further a business or service.

Re: C-Spire Mobi TV
@dcawrey - Would think that would to be a better balance for a lot of households: a slimmed down pay-TV service supplemented by 1-2 OTT services. But we keep hearing from operators and seeing data to show that the majority of consumers are still looking for full-fat options. Could be they are still uncomfortable with the web, or don't really understand their options. But also could be they just like pay-TV as it is.

Re: C-Spire Mobi TV
Skinny bundles are great – I have found that I really only like a few channels at most. ESPN, CNN, TBS are the ones I watch most. It's not like a Netfilx-style streaming where I get exactly what I want, but sometimes that's okay.

New Interface
A new interface sounds exciting. And pay-TV will most definitely need to change if it is going to remain relevant. Not everyone has gone OTT yet, obviously, But the appeal is there for most, if pay-TV adapts even as a kind of hybrid-OTT their longevity will be increased.

C-Spire IP Video Service
C Spire realized they needed save time and money and become more efficient. They are just service providers and don't seem to have plans to create their own hardware, seti-up boxes or develop. This may affect their revenue in the future.

They have a small geographic customer base. To remain competitive they will have to get new customers or get customers to constantly buy additional products and services. Nothing last forever and although they have 1,000,000 customers now there is no guarantee they will in the next 2-3 years.

MobiTV
That name is a blast from the past. I do remember them from mobile device deployments back in the early days. Is any of the UI cloud-based? Operators have been talking about multicast vs. unicast for years, and moving from QAM to IP. Sounds like C Spire is well on its way.

Re: Refreshing
It will be interesting to see how they are able to navigate through the "maze"as they've been especially with the majors being as active as they are.

Re: Refreshing
I think the other concern might be downstream bandwidth. With 1 Gbps downstream, they probably have a faster pipe than most. How will a service optimized for their network work on other networks?

Re: Refreshing
I think right now the strategy is to move fairly carefully. They are only anticipating a few thousand sign ups to start with. But I think longer term that might well be the plan. Jared was very clear about his long term thinking on traditional TV delivery...

Re: Refreshing
That is a good question.  Do they have plans to expand or do they think the strategy will work because of the size of the market they are in right now?
