Highlights From the Inaugural CORD Summit
I really enjoyed this article. I thought I was good because of so many details are presented in this article. It explains the left and right cord, the enterprise cord. Full OAM support, mobile cord, and the monitoring cord. Which is very well described and impressive.

The cost and talent benefits of shifting to open source seems to be a winning trend, and proprietary functions can still be built on top of open source resources (depending on the licenses).

Re: Roadmap...
Interesting idea. With Linux Foundation backing, this is certainly something that can help backoffices move into the open source world. There will be resistance from the perspective that proprietary has long been the preferred way – but things change, don't they?

Re: Roadmap...
It's also nice to see more open source infrastructure becoming the mainstream trend instead of the alternative and underground movement it once was.

Re: Roadmap...
mike, jtombes, mhhf1ve,

Absolutely agreed; the open version of agile-access networks looks about as inevitable as anything can in our industry; it makes a huge amount of business sense, the tech is almost all off-the-shelf, and the big boys that matter are all on board. In many ways the CORD project looks more like managing the inevitable than like pushing the envelope -- but when something is inevitable, managing it is what you have to do!

Re: Roadmap...
Presumably, the field tests will provide more guidance and help map out the timeline... and as Mike points out, the bigger name sponsors behind this will ensure that more adoption occurs in some markets.

Use cases would be good, including cost structures. Scaling is good, but they should be able to demonstrate how to save money from the get-go.

Cord Highlights
I like when they talked about when they deiver services l for residential and mobile customers etc.  They can do businesses with other big companies so they can grow which mean more income and more customers in a way.
