Re: Verizon Sensity System
I agree! And being a Verizon customer I'm excited to see what's to come for them and us as consumers!

Hmm..
I wonder how much of this acquisition is about grabbing up expertise in obtaining the rights to build connected infrastructure in cities.... It's not easy to navigate the approval process for getting equipment installed on public property, so this may not be about lighting and IoT as much as about keeping competitors from building out networks that might someday compete with IoT or wireless&wired communication services.

Re: IoT
@Ariella, I agree - this will be interesting to watch.  Verizon is clearly claiming their space in IoT.  Obviously, they are creating the platform for everyone to connect, but I will be interested to see how much they embrace and create IoT solutions, or if they remain a platform.  This Sensitivity purchase appears to be a solution, so we will have to watch what direction they take.

Re: Cost/benefit
@Adi good question. In light of what the CEO of Bezeq said about only expecting returns on the investment in a smart city to emerge after a decade, I wonder what Verizon's anticipated time frame is.

This is great for verizon where they have the smart city idea when it comes to proving better efficient homes and more revenue for them in the long run.

Cost/benefit
@Mike - Did Sensity discuss the financial benefit of actually deploying their solution? I would think that detailed analysis of their ROI would be pretty central to their value proposition.

Bring it on
I will take these lights in my city and in my home if it means energy and money savings.  This is one move by Verizon that I can really get behind.

IoT
Verizon appears to be very serious about pursuing the IoT. It will be interesting how this all plays out for our increasingly connected world.
