Agreed. Many companies are scared to move over to the cloud because it's new and it's not known as being the most relaible. However, if they don't want to get left behind they better start using the cloud more frequently.

Cloud Centricity for Better Systems
BSS/OSS moving to the cloud is great. Although it will enable operators to support larger scale with increased speed and flexibility many companies are hesistant to move to the cloud due to the challenges they will face.

Companies will have to weight the advantages of being able to update product service offering and a la carte features and the need to find skilled employees to design, implement and maintain the cloud and these new features.

Great 1st hand perspective, thanks for sharing this. In relation to OSS/BSS, I  think Travis' 2nd point is the most important: BSS/OSS designed with a specific business model in mind. Simply aiming to cloud-ify existing OSS/BSS misses the point.
