SDN NFV Impact on Big Data Poll
Analytics must be integrated across the enterprises. In addition, a implementation plan must be created to identify what data needs to be captured, how it will be used, what it will be used for, and who needs access to it.

Re: Unsure...
I chose the second option precisely because of the need for integration and the need to be ready and flexible for the changing environment we have to contend it.

Re: It depends.. What kind of big data...?
@mhh: Indeed -- and, of course, gets to the idea that it depends how ubiquitous your virtualization projects are.

Of course, the answer is asking "is" -- not "will be" -- and, as such, the putative goal of completely ubiquitous virtualization in the long run should be discounted, merely looking at the "now".

Unsure...
On the one hand, I'm not entirely satisfied with the selection of answers offered, but on the other hand, but on the other hand I'm not sure what I would offer exactly.  So maybe it's just right.

I selected the first answer: "They drive a greater requirement for distributed analytics capabilities" -- although I suspect the truth is somewhere closer to that and the last answer.  I don't think existing analytics tools are just fine for virtualization -- primarily because I don't think they're just fine for the legacy, hard-coded systems we have now.  I think that analytics tool libraries overall need an overhaul -- and virtualization is a great way to force the issue.

On the other hand, I tend to think that "creating your own market" by using software/technology to make obsolesce other software/technology is a poor practice.

Now I'm second-guessing myself, and wondering if Option Two is best...because better integration is needed -- and I believe this integration can be better achieved via *less* reliance on GUI-based ETL and other DIY, "no programming experience necessary!" analytics tools.  As the world becomes more software-defined, we have entered an age where people in non-programming, non-engineering roles really do ought to have at least a modicum of coding skill.

As for the subject of virtualization and security, I think it's a red herring.  (See, e.g., Virtualization Revolutionizes Security in the New IP -- a piece I wrote for one of Telco Transformation's sister sites earlier this year.)

It depends.. What kind of big data...?
Big Data touches a lot of areas, so the answer really depends. SDN/NFV might have no effect on some Big Data projects, and a huge effect on others.....
