Re: Makes me wonder....
michelle,

There is probably still a lot of drama behind closed doors among the upper managements, but it's probably only about as relevant as the content of soap operas is to the actual operations of the networks that broadcast them. And it seems to me that with the increasing use of open systems, eventually there will be almost no technical glitches at all with building new bridges and connections between two merged companies.

Re: Century Link Merger
faryl,

FCC plus FTC, officially, but in a case this big there will almost certainly be Congressional hearings and probably an opinion for the Attorney General as well.

@elizabeth I suspect regular folks won't notice a change in services once the merger is complete. These giant mergers are always interesting to watch. I wonder how drama-filled they are behind closed doors.

Makes me wonder....
If the reason for this merger is the same as the reason for the AT&T/Time Warner merger. Uneasy times ahead and the desire to be "bigger" and "stronger" to help navigate the storm. This one isn't as big though, so it probably won't cause as much stir, and I would even bet the FCC is more likely to approve the merger. Just like the other, we'll have to wait and see.

Re: Century Link Merger
This would still need to be approved by the FCC in order to move forward though, correct?

Century Link Merger
JPMorgan believes CenturyLink would be expected to pay at least $61 per share for Level 3 and that CenturyLink would be the buyer in this transaction, and Level 3 the seller.

The merger could result in almost a billion dollar combined cost savings.

The merger would result in a P/E ratio of 11.1 and enterprise-value-to-free-cash-flow ratio of 14.1.

This is only great news is the promises both companies make come to fruition.

It will be interesting to see where the new headquarters will be located.

It will great to see what new products and services the merged company offers to residential customers and if there is any cord cutting or churn.

Century Link Merger
The merger of Century Link and Level 3 will provide the company with a larger global presence and provide the opportunity to expand their products and services.

It will be interesting to see the new management team.
