I agree. I think it's cool to see Amazon get involved. It'll definitely be interesting to see what comes of this..

@dcawrey - I think its also a function of device fragmentation. each new device requires some adaptation in the stream sent to it, and you have to multiple everything by three because you need three different profiles to support adaptive bit-rate streams. For a broadcaster like ITV, the sheer volume of video and number of profiles becomes unmanageable really quickly.

I agree. It would seem to me a pull model is a better structure. This is especially true when you consider the impact things like apps are going to have for this industry. Just like what we've seen with YouTube, I expect the future of video to incorporate more of a "mash-up" still than traditional video has.

It is not surprising to find Amazon in the middle of the mix.  I like this idea and am interested in where it will go from here.

The ITV cloud pull model is better and simpler than the other push one and that have this multiplatform video hub which can do many things for them and others they have to offer.
