Re: Real Time Network
Also I think it's good for a little healthy competition so businesses put out their best for consumers.

Re: Real Time Network
I agree! Competition may suck for companies and business, but it's the consumers best friend. It allows for prices to lower, otherwise businesses could price however they would like..

Real Time Network
Competition is always better for customers and the industry. I would love to see long time vendors and startups collaborate on major initiatives.

It is great to see that companies want real time data which can be used to identify problems quicker, improve cusotmer satisfaction and provide data for better decision making.

Re: Real-Time Network Priority
@Mike, these are encouraging results.  The fact that this registers as the no. 1 driver suggests that true progress is being made in understanding the distinctive value and the opportunities involved.

I agree with clrmoney that standards will even support that further.

It looks like we are on our way though.

Re: OSS problems
Consolidation is part of the evolutionary process, though--the question is how to make sure innovation is at the forefront of transofrmation--right?

Re: OSS problems
So this may follow the usual progression: long time vendors say startups don't know sector, startups say legacy vendors are a thing of the past, legacy vendors buy small startups.

Re: OSS problems
I would agree with Ariella. Markets where there are lots of rivals generally are better for customers. There seems to be a lot of vendors vying for a piece of the pie. This is a good metric to look at because consolidation can often be worrying.

Re: OSS problems
<The report also stated that the top-five OSS/BSS vendors held approximately 40% of the market last year due to low entry barriers and intense competition.> I think that's a good thing to not have so much controlled by the largest vendors. Certainly, it's good for their customers to have choices that drive companies to offer competitive pricing and not stint on quality.
