Orange Targets vCPE in First ECOMP Trial
I like this article because of the facts that are shown. It is very important about the Orange and vCPE. I like how they announced that they will be the first service provider to trail AT&T's Enhanced control. I also like how they opened up about the playbook for the first time providing the details on a trial in its Poland footprints, and also focuses on the virtual customer premise equipment as the first ECOMP uses case.

The quarter by quarter plan is subtly brilliant
If you look at how Orange has chunked the job, the first quarter maximizes the possible number of places that get involved, minimizes the downside, and costs nothing but a little development time if it tanks.

By the time the potentially difficult but high-reward Q3 kicks in, everyone has had half a year of experience on the elements common to all systems.

This is a very soundly bulit ladder with an escape path if they need it; it may seem "obvious" but great solutions often do -- after someone else thinks of them.

@batye exactly, with more service providers partnering up, there will be a lot more access for customers-- both businesses and individuals.

@dcawrey I trust virtualization is here to stay and it will grow more and more... it would make sense to grab it and hold on to it :)

Re: Orange and ECOMP
I'd expect that we will see a lot more partnerships of this sort with AT&T in the future as a result of its open source direction. It's a great way to accelerate innovation around the globe.

Re: Orange and ECOMP
Nice move partnering with AT&T.

Some companies would see AT&T as a rival not to deal with. But Orange clearly sees synergy between the two organizations - and virtualization is a good technology to try to get all hands on deck.
