It's amazing that Microsoft was able to pivot to create a cloud service so quickly. I'm honestly surprised that Google hasn't released a "cloud OS" (not ChromeOS) to take on Microsoft's legacy foothold....

Re: Enterprise Cloud Spans
dcawrey,

Have to agree. Just about impossible to imagine anyone offering any non-cloud solution that could even try to do what BT is describing here, even in a much more limited space.

And even if PBX or direct phone service is still cheaper in some areas, consider economies of scale; the more BT (and other cloud telcos) take over, the cheaper they get -- and the more expensive the traditional ones become.

The handwriting is not only on the wall; it finishes up with an underscored NOW.

It's pretty much cloud or go extinct for vendors.

Microsoft is a great example of this. Back in 2011 when Google was really making some noise, I never would have thought Microsoft would be able to compete.

Well, they've made a major shift. And it's working. And I was wrong!

Enterprise Cloud Spans
I think that them offering the small vendor markets like the 8X8 and Rackspace is very interesting to see how that would urn out for them.

Poll: Are Enterprises Ready for the Cloud?
BT's Randy Schrock says that some companies looking at enterprise cloud know precisely what their status is and needs are, and others "don't know what they don't know."

In your opinion, companies shopping for enterprise cloud services are...

>  ...knowledgeable about its positives and negatives.

> ...largely ignorant of why they should consider it or shy away from it.

> ... somewhat familiar with it, but not deeply enough to make an informed decision.

Please elaborate on your answer...Thanks.
