AT&T Boldly Goes Into White Box Switching
This is a good point of not having own system made by the company but they must also understand that ATT going to switch into white box can cause damage to there reputation while other consumers may not like the idea of the switch. They can also be switching with the new designing to help the development of the system so they are not out of date. I agree with the whole thing of new change and satafaction.

Re: Amazingly fast development...
Will telcos ever get back into the game of developing/designing their own hardware? If white boxes becoming like customized hardware manufacturers, it seems like telcos could develop the talent internally....

Re: Amazingly fast development...
If the turnaround time on these white boxes is so much quicker, that means the ability to get new hardware out is going to accelerate.

For all the talk about software in the network and how deployable it is, this is refreshing to hear from the hardware perspective.

Amazingly fast development...
> "processing 6 terabits per second can be done on one chip that fits in the palm of your hand installed in a white box that is the size of a pizza box and all controlled by an open common, network OS.."

And I assume the cost for this "pizza box" is coming down to the point where.. perhaps someday there will be a decentralized network of these things almost everywhere -- and mesh networks will be ubiquitous.... :P

Can't you just imagine Apple creating its own iOS-mesh-network, connecting all its devices -- if only it had access to the wireless spectrum.
